Casa Branca (Sousel) – Alto Alentejo
The village of Casa Branca (Sousel), a secular jewel located in the Alto Alentejo region, captivates its inhabitants and visitors with its serene atmosphere and idyllic landscapes.
The village owes its name to an old white house, built to store the agricultural utensils used at Quinta do Zagalo, and which served as a reference point for those who passed through on their way to Avis.
Surrounded by abundant nature, Casa Branca is synonymous with tranquillity: a place that invites you to disconnect from routine and rest in the peace and silence characteristic of deep Alentejo.
But, as in times past, the village is also a point of connection between several places of interest in the region. To the north, the village of Avis is a mere 15-minute drive away. To the east, 30 minutes separate Casa Branca from Estremoz and Borba. To the south, an hour's drive takes you to Évora.
A genuine Alentejo village that preserves the roots and traditions of the past. Iconic places such as the Igreja Matriz of Casa Branca, built in the eighteenth century, or the old Torre do Álamo, which is believed to have belonged to Camões family, are living examples of the history of this place, which welcomes visitors with true Alentejo hospitality.
