An Arab Heritage House
Casa Az-Zagal, a member of Unlock Boutique Hotels, is a charming hotel in the heart of the Alto Alentejo., located in an old manor house in the village of Casa Branca, in Sousel. The name “Az-Zagal” refers to Quinta do Zagalo, an old agricultural property from the 15th century located in the region. Zagalo, on the other hand, is one of several Portuguese words whose origin attests to the Arab influence in the country - and, in particular, in the Alentejo.
In its name, but also in its architectural features, Casa Az-Zagal incorporates and pays homage to the Arab heritage and the spirit of hospitality that it preserved, forever, in the Alentejo culture.

With 13 bedrooms, several living rooms, a dining room and a small library, Casa Az-Zagal is an elegant rural tourism house that welcomes you in the good Alentejo way: with open arms.
